Elon Musk bought Twitter and — depending mostly on your political alignment — either daddy Elon is about to purge all the ‘wokes’ and Make Twitter Great Again!, or he’s a hapless, rich-kid moron who’s about to burn the place to the ground.

Rewind to earlier this year — on April 14, Musk offered to buy Twitter, but it looks like he was actually kind of trolling. His lowball offer didn’t seem to have been particularly serious, but he made the mistake of making his offer in writing — as a contract. Musk seemed surprised when Twitter accepted his offer and then sued him to actually fulfill the terms.

After a few months of back-and-forth, and rather than go through all the bother of fighting this in court when he was absolutely going to lose, he caved and bought the place.
